Foggy Night

So, it's kind of the big weather news today, and this isn't the best representation of how crazy thick this stuff is, but fog did roll in tonight. It was actually so thick that visibility was easily down to 1-2 feet. It's pretty darn hard to see more than a half block away. Here's the picture for today that I shot:
All the other pictures I shot were too blurry, but believe me, this was some thick fog! Here's another photo that's not my picture of the day:
If that's not enough to convince you that this was thick fog, they even had to close the airport.

School Update

Just so you guys know, I've decided to not do the Esthitician schooling. I'm going to take a few classes for Photography at SLCC. I've always loved photography so, I think that is a better route. Doing something that I know I like ;)

On another school note, I've found out that my graduation date may be Thursday, Mar. 19 and not the 13th. I'm going to ask on Tuesday for sure, but I think that is what the date is.

Update

Sorry I haven't posted a new photo in several days. I just haven't come across anything that was either good enough to take a picture of or didn't turn out well enough to post. I hope to have something up over the weekend.

Esthetics or A New Car or BOTH?!

So, my school (Utah College of Massage Therapy) is starting a new program on March 16 for Esthetics. "The program offers instruction in basic facials, color theory, makeup artistry, body treatments, aromatherapy, natural nails, cosmetic chemistry, and hair removal....The most in-demand spa professionals are those who are dually licensed – as Estheticians and Massage Therapists."

So, I am thinking about doing it. Yes it's more money, but I have the potential of makeing more money to. I'm not sure yet how long the program is, I've been told it's not a year, so I'm guessing probably about 8-9 months. Which means I'd probably be graduating from that program in December. Plus the bonus is that I won't have to start paying back my student loans until next year, so that would give me time to get my credit card paid off so the only thing I have to worry about is the student loans. And I'll hopefully be getting paid a lot after graduating and getting a good job somewhere. So hopefully I will be able to pay off the loans in a timely fashion.

However, on the other hand, I need a car. I can't share one with Justin. After I graduate I'll most likely be getting a job else where and I'll need some way of getting there. So...That's sort of a priority isn't it? But at the same time, being a massage therapist AND esthitician means I wouldn't have to do MT all the time. I could switch. Or I could go to school for something else. I need something else to do besides MT I think.

On the other other hand, i could probably aford to do both if I get a good $5,000 car.

I don't know. What do you guys think? I need guidance.

Sunset

So i know i've missed the last couple of days of photos, so i hope this one makes up for it :) this was the sunset outside of work today. I took a couple others that i liked too, but there was something about this one I liked best. 1/800s at f/6.4, ISO 50, 6.3 mm

Bye Bye My Touch..

Well, I took my iPod Touch back.. It wouldn't stay connected to the internet. It would be connected, then it would disconnect and reconnect then disco.... well you get the picture. Plus I really wanted the Nike+ on it and that only comes on the 2G touch. The person who sold it to me said it was with the software upgrade... LIAR! it only comes built into the 2G touch.

So, now I don't know if I should get the orange Nano or get the new Touch. The Nano is Orange.. and smaller.. but the Touch has a lot of cool stuff about it. but it's $100 more.. But I've purchased applications for the touch...so, perhaps I'll just stick with the touch. *shrugs*

10 Weeks Left!!

I can't believe I only have 10 weeks of school left! Holy goodness! I'm soooo happy! I can't wait to be done! However at the same time I will miss the friends I have made. Anyway, I had Professional Development today and we talked about licensing and certifications and other things like that. It was fun. That class always pumps me up for making my own business. I'm excited!

Well, I'm going to chill before bed. :) Later!

Snowy Monday

Back in the full swing of things with work and school, and now we get snow on top of it! Total case of the Mondays... anyway... Tennille took this picture (Nikon Coolpix L3 1/15s at f/3.2, ISO 50, 6.3 mm) on the way home today as the snow was getting started. Then i played with it a little in photoshop.

New Space Heater

the picture of the day to day is quite lame, so i must apologize. I forgot to bring my camera along when we went to the Gateway or else I would have taken something there. So anyway, this is our new space heater. Exciting. I know. We're staying nice and extra warm in this 20 degree and lower weather... (taken with the nikon coolpix l3 (0.7s at f/3.6, ISO 200 w/ macro lens (9.1 mm)))

As far as the rest of our day, we went to the Gateway, had some Applebee's, and went and saw "Yes Man." That movie was actually a lot better than i thought it was going to be. Zooey Deschanel had the same ol' personality she uses in everything else, so she was kind of a low point (as always for me). The real suprise highlight for me was Rhys Darby (some of you may know him as Murray Hewitt, Band Manager, from Flight of the Conchords). He's awesome as always. In fact, I would see "Yes Man" again, just for him. Don't get me wrong, Jim Carrey was good too, but Rhys was great!

Snowy Capitol

Today's picture of the day was taken from A Street between 6th & 7th Ave with my Nikon Coolpix L3 (1/290 sec at f/6.9). For those who don't know, it's the Utah State Capitol. I wanted to get a nice picture for the day after the snow storm while the valley was still clear. My camera took this a little over saturated/high contrast, so i took it into photoshop to tone it all down.

Justin's First Post

My first post! Also, my first pic of the day is up <--- you can view a full gallery of photos (more to come soon) by clicking the photo button above. I missed yesterday, but unfortunately we didn't do much... mostly just watched the Monk-a-thon on USA and played with Tilly's new iPod among other boring, uneventful things. Not really the best way to start the picture of the day thing, but oh well...

I'm not sure if I'm going to leave detailed daily posts about my photos or not yet. I'll give it a try for the first little bit and see how it goes.

Today's (1/2/09) pic-o-the-day was taken at about 10:45pm in SLC with a Nikon Coolpix L3 (0.7 sec at f/3.2). We were hanging out with Scott and Amanda after getting some Indian food when it started to snow. We stayed inside most of the evening, but decide we should check out the weather to see how it was going (i guess). I realized I hadn't had a chance to take any pictures today since i left my camera at home and went to the restaurant straight from work. So i thought I'd shoot a few as we took a very brief walk to a park nearby. I saw these signs getting blasted with snow and thought it would make a good shot. The street lights and the falling snow added a pretty cool effect, and i think it would have come out better had i used a tripod for the longer exposure. I took the photo into good ol' photoshop for some minor touchups. The original was slightly yellowed by the street lights, so there's a little bit o' color correction going on there with an added vignette effect.

Happy New Year!

Well it's a new year! And what a year it will be. Both Justy and I have our own New Year Goals. Justy wants to start a "Picture A Day" bit here on the blog. We will be adding that this weekend. I want to loose weight and live a healthier lifestyle for both of us. I've rejoined Weight Watchers Online and will follow that. I have a Weight Loss Blog that I will post at least once a week to record my weigh in stats and other stuff.

I'll be posting my grades from last quarter next week when I get them all. :)

Well that is it for now!

My New iTouch

Yay! It's freakin' awesome! After playing with my brothers at home I wanted one. Regardless of the Zune thing being resolved today, I'm still glad I got the iTouch. It's more fun to play with. *grin*
